What’s this about?
This is the Spanish website for Peter and Maureen Scargill. We have a wonderful cavehome in Galera in Andalucia and this site is about our adventure. When we're not here, we're in the Northeast of England.

Read through the blog entries, menu-accessible pages and archives if you're interested! Welcome to Peter and Maureen's Spanish website.

Problems

There are several severe problems which need attention

1. There are two areas on the roundabout just down from our property (our only way out) where the concrete is collapsing. The manhole cover is in danger of collapsing altogether and the area at the opposite side of the roundabout looks like it could collapse into a hole. If either happens the roundabout will be unusable.

2. Above our cave is a water/snow break – because of it’s design, in a storm, heavy rain fall directly onto our roof – and directly onto the area behind the hot tub. In the first case this is powerful enough to cause concrete damage – in the second case it is damaging the natural wall. Also this wall is cracked in the middle and we feel it would not take much for it to fall onto our property.

Finally the walls around the property are literally dropping to bits even though we’ve only had this “new” property for a year. I would expect another winter will finish these off.
